Plantation Home at Malaekahana

The Malaekahana Plantation Pole House is our latest build. The owners’ of the beachfront property have enjoyed the small two bedroom holiday home for over 20 years. They recently decided to build a second structure on their property to provide more space for their children and grandchildren, mainly as a family vacation home.

They reached out to us at Imagine Development. We assisted them in coming up with a design that would compliment the existing bungalow in style and form and would last against the strong winds of the North Eastern coastline here on Oahu. Throughout the design process, it became clear that the pole house would be set to hold a myriad of windows in order to draw natural light and cross ventilation, as well as offering ocean views through the large statement window at the front of the house. After a lot of discussion and ideas being exchanged, the owners decided on a large plantation style home that would be big enough to house the entire family during the holidays.
